Why Stonefly Is in Town

One of the most important things about Stonefly is where it is located. Many people come to the Methow Valley for space, quiet, and natural beauty — and those qualities matter deeply. But as we get older, living far from town can become harder. A home up a long driveway may also mean more driving, more maintenance, more isolation, and less easy access to the people and services that help daily life work well.

Stonefly is different by design. By creating a small co-housing community in town, we hope to make it easier for people to remain connected — to neighbors, friends, local businesses, trails, community events, Jamie’s Place, Methow at Home, and the everyday rhythms of the valley. The goal is not simply to build homes. It is to create a place where people can enjoy independence, beauty, and community together, with the practical advantages of being close to the heart of town.
