Building Momentum
Welcome to Stonefly Stories, a place where we’ll share updates, milestones, and reflections as Stonefly moves from vision to reality. At our June community meeting, the theme was clear: progress is happening on many fronts at once. Infrastructure planning is moving ahead, the permitting work is becoming more concrete, and our design-build team is now coordinating closely on the practical details that will shape the next phase of the project.
One especially exciting topic was the community house. We reviewed several design options and found ourselves drawn to a plan that keeps two flexible rooms while protecting the most important part of the building: a warm, generous common space where meals, conversations, meetings, guests, and everyday community life can happen. That balance — separate space where needed, shared space where it matters most — goes right to the heart of what Stonefly is trying to create.
We are also making steady progress on the legal and organizational structure for the cooperative, while thinking carefully about how future members will join and participate. At the same time, we are expanding our outreach, including new flyers, future website updates, and conversations with Methow at Home about how Stonefly can be part of the broader network helping people remain connected, supported, and rooted in the Methow Valley. There is still a lot of work ahead, but the pieces are coming together — and we’re excited to begin sharing the story as we go.
